rush week

for the 48-hour policy school hazing ritual i'm about to endure, the most significant preparation i've done is stock up on candy and make a mix for a japanese homosexual friend of mine. he's out of town and hasn't picked it up yet but i'm feeling petulant so here are some super exclusive leaks.

one week into the semester and I haven't killed myself yet. yet. plus i have visitors from the east coming to the Bay this weekend hooraaayyy!!!! i feel like throwing on my partytime feather headress and twinking around in a loin cloth and uggs to some super homo disco.

not enough

school starts tomorrow and I haven't even finished Breaking Dawn yet, let alone Bardach's 8-fold path. I did however manage to do the following over break:

went to DC, heart
caught up on my netflix queue of san francisco-themed films
read 10000 books including firsts by Malcolm Gladwell (barf), Michael Chabon (barf), and (nearly) the Twilight saga (barf forever)
made 3 kinds of soup, including lentil, corn chowder, and veggie chilli
went to Tahoe where I drank hot toddies, snowboarded like an old person, and failed to complete a puzzle by the fire
and um.... that's about it

oh and I just made pumpkin butter

I went to the farmers' market in downtown Berkeley on saturday expecting all the stands to be overflowing with pumpkins. apparently I missed the part where they sold them all before thanksgiving. luckily one guy had these 3 beauts left.

I scooped out the seeds and guts, roasted the meats in the oven for like 45 mins, and skinned em. Then i ran it all through my tiny baby food processor like 4 times until it was smooth enough. a hand mixer is at the top of my shopping list after that ordeal.

I added cinnamon, ground cloves, and a bit of nutmeg, plus 2.5 cups sugar, a cup of OJ, and a cup of water, and cooked it down til it looked like baby poo.

then I let that shit sit on the stove overnight while I went out and grinded to 90's hip hop at Booty Bassment at the knockout in SF. Then I came home the next day and canned it all up.

I made a lot more than I expected, leaving me with a few 1/2 pints to give away as presents. so be nice to me.
