phx-mas

spent xmas in phoenix which was weird and very un-wintery. but there was in-and-out burger and authentic mexican food, so i was ok. I've been having for reals withdrawals already. i saw a lot of cactus and watched some Band of brothers and Moneyball and went to the zoo but it was closed. and I got slippers and john le carre books and relaxicized.

breakfast at Montara

my flight for DC leaves in 4 hours and to my right a laundry bomb went off where everything i need to pack is supposed to be. and to my left out the window is the g.d. pacific ocean about 100 paces across highway 1. I'm drinking coffee and eating a pastry and i'm also on hold with ATT to disconnect my internet at my old apartment and the hold music is Moonriver. I might be getting a wee bit emotional.

peace out Cali.

the craft

i'm going through 2.5 years of crap as I'm packing, and I found these diamonds from a couple winter breaks ago.

I went to LA last weekend for my cousin's wedding. I had never been to LA before really. I went to orange county once a couple years ago and like stalked all the places that KCav went on Laguna Beach. But this time I was in LA proper, so i made us go to all the other places i've heard about on TV.  First night, we went to the Standard hotel which has a swanky/sleazy rooftop bar that smelled like stale vodka and drakkar noir. We also went to Melrose, and I dropped some serious cash that I don't have. What else, uh, we ate pastries and coffee, and went to the Grove shopping center (where I'm pretty sure I saw LC go on the Hills at some point), and ate mexican food at the Farmer's market. I don't have any good photos from the wedding but it was super fun. The brides and grooms families are Egyptian and Greek so there was like a lot of techno. Then the next morning we had epic greasy diner brunch at Nick's and then drove around Beverly Hills in the pouring rain looking for David Schwimmer's house. I tried to find the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf where Perez Hilton used to work out of, but we kept getting lost and finally had to go to the airport. fun.

can't stop doing big arms.
