i've decided that in lieu of blogging

its easier to just cut and paste youtube videos.

this is my friday.

tonight maybe i'll get to smash something like i've longed to all week.

i grew up in kansas, by the way. i wasn't cool then either.

its like my life has become divided

between eating delicious tapas..... and like.... not..... eating delicious tapas.....
... or whatever

went to Zaytinya last night for (birthday! yes, i'm claiming it) restaurant week dinner. 5 courses of greek tapas and 1 pint of some kind of stout (sadly, they didn't serve car bombs) = i need elastic waist pants and more rich friends.

course 1=hummus, babaganoush, cucumber/tomato/pepper/onion/frito? salad, crispy eggplant fritters w/ yogurt sauce with fluffy, balloon-like pita.
course 2= weird fritters galore, of the zucchini/cheese and carrot/apricot variety.
course 3= a couple initially underdone salmons, more calimari than we could handle, and swordfish, which i was urged to try because "don't worry, its not fishy, its meaty," to which i reassured, "again, i don't eat meat."
course 4=lamb, beef, more lamb, more lamb, weird eggplant mousse puree, and more and more lamb.
and just before losing consciousness, dessert= one thing of yogurt and cherry compote + cherry gelato on top and 3 orders of "turkish delight," otherwise known as walnut ice cream, fruity jammy goo, and cookie/cracker ish that was the BOMB.

oh. ma. gah. good thing someone had a car to drive home, otherwise i was ready to climb onto a subway grate and under someone's fiberglass blanket and call it a night.

sidenote: when asked their favorite restaurant in DC, only 1 out of 4 diners could come up with an answer. with prodding, the votes went, in the non-brunch category, to Lafayette and St Ex, and in the brunch or "chicken-and-waffles" category, to Creme. an uninspired picture of dining in the district, i feel.

fetus cake rules everything around me

I'm not late. everyday is my birthday when its my motherf***ing blog.

thanks to everyone for the well wishes.
